What is this?

The Internet's Portfolio is a website developed by Aidan Strong. It is directly tied to an active brokerage account that started with $100 on July 22nd, 2024.

Five minutes before market close the highest voted action on the site is taken. This is done through a simple majority. If there is a tie, an option will be chosen randomly. If there are no votes, no action will be made.

Why are trades executed only once a day?

Voting is only once a day primarily to prevent the issue of day trading. As defined by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a day trade is a buy and sell of the same security on the same day.

Individuals who engage in 5 day trades in a 5 day period are considered pattern day traders and must maintain a minimum balance of $25,000 in their account.

Seeing as I don't have $25,000 laying around to maintain that balance, the portfolio is unable to day trade.
